The
Planning Commission of the City of Rainbow City, Alabama met in a regular
session at 4:00 P.M. and upon roll call the following members were present:

1. Upon
roll call, Chairman Watson declared a quorum was present and the following
business was transacted.
2.
Thomas Moon moved and Wayne Walden seconded the motion to suspend the
reading of the
minutes from the March 22, 2005 and
April 15, 2005 meetings. Motion carried,
minutes will
stand as presented.
3.
Chairman Watson announced a public hearing for the annexation of
property belonging to Gina
Scott Lengyel at
annexation. Wes Ellis moved and Thomas Moon second the
motion to recommend the
annexation of Ms. Lengyel’s property into
the corporate limits of
Family Residential Zoning. Motion carried.
4.
Eddie Perman, Perman Engineering, Dr. Zandrlich, D.V.M., and Terry
McWhorter, McWhorter
Construction, were present with site and
building plans for an addition to the
Animal Clinic. After review and discussion,
seconded the motion to approve both site
and building plans. Motion carried.
5.
be built on an unnamed street in Montrose
Gardens Subdivision. Wiley discussed
that fire walls
would be necessary and he and Mr. Towers
discussed meeting to determine the procedure for
building these fire walls. There will be eight (8) town homes built in
this section of
Gardens.
Wes Ellis moved and Wayne Walden seconded the motion to approve the
building
drawings for these town homes. Motion carried.
6.
Wiley McLain, Building Official, requested that the Planning Commission
recommend to the
Rainbow City Council to accept the
cul-de-sac on
section of
inspected the cul-de-sac and both agreed
that it was in good shape. Thomas Moon
moved and
Wes Ellis seconded the motion to
recommend to the City Council to accept maintenance on this
street.

7. Mr.
Watson announced that we would begin the public hearing for the Comprehensive
Plan for
hearing today to begin work on the plan
and other meetings would be held over the next two
years to complete the Comprehensive
Plan. Dawn said the Plan will be a
policy guide for the
City for the future development of
with the City of
Analysis” which is the Strengths,
Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats for
People were asked to participate in
answering each of these analyses for our city.
After an
initial list was comprised; Ryan turned
the meeting over to Mr. Watson. Mr.
Watson and
Mayor Calhoun thanked Ryan and Dawn for
coming to our meeting and helping
with this project.
4.
There being no further business on the agenda for the Planning
Commission at this time,
Thomas Moon moved to adjourn. Motion carried.
