CITY

The
Planning Commission of the City of Rainbow City, Alabama met in a regular session
at 4:00 P.M. and upon roll call the following members were present:

1. Upon
roll call, Vice Chairman Moon declared a quorum was present and the following
business was transacted.
2. Mr. Moon introduced Larry Harris and Elbert
Tarvin as the new members of Planning
Commission. They are replacing John Watson and Wayne
Walden who both resigned from the
Board earlier this month. Mr. Watson has resigned from the Planning
Commission
due to the health
of his wife and his own health. Mr.
Walden has resigned from the
Planning Commission due
to more work being placed on him by Alabama Power.

Bryan Stone moved and Wes Ellis seconded the motion to suspend the
reading of the minutes
from the April
24th, April 30th, and May 15th meetings and
approve the minutes as presented.
Motion carried unanimously.
4. J.
N. Fowler of Four Star Builders was present with Long Furniture’s site and
building plans.
Longs will build a showroom, office and
storage building at the corner of
and
of both sets of
plans, Wes Ellis moved and Mona Wallace seconded a motion to approve the site
and building drawings. Motion carried unanimously.
5. Court
Barber was not present. The bond for
the road
construction. Planning took no action on
final approval of this subdivision.
6. Hugh
Baskin had asked for the City of Rainbow City to have
dedicated
street. Greg Payne, Street Supervisor
and Wiley McLain, Building Inspector, have
both inspected
the street and agree that it is in good shape.
Jerry Tolbert moved and Wes Ellis
seconded the
motion to recommend to the City Council to accept
city
street. Motion carried unanimously.
7.
Carolyn Dial who lives at
request to be
allowed to place a smaller mobile home in front of her existing mobile home for
her and her
daughter to live in while they re-model their home. Mrs. Dial stated that she needs
to remove the
carpet from the mobile home and renovate the entire home she now lives in and
can not do so
without moving. After discussion with
Mrs. Dial, Steve Parrish made a motion to
allow Mrs. Dial
and her daughter to bring in a mobile home to live in while they re-model their
home, to give them
twelve (12) months to re-model their home, the mobile home that is being
moved onto her
property can not be rented to anyone once they have completed renovations on
their home, the mobile home can only be
sold and moved away from this address, and in the

event that Mrs.
Dial does not get her home re-modeled in twelve months, she will need to come
back before
Planning Commission to get an extension of time to finish the job. Jerry Tolbert
seconded the
motion. Motion carried unanimously.
8. There
being no other business to come before The Planning Commission, Bryan Stone
moved to
adjourn.
