The
City Council of the City of Rainbow City, Alabama, met in regular session at
City Hall at 6:30 P. M., and upon roll call by the City Clerk, Barbara T.
Wester, the following members answered present:

The
same constituting a quorum of the City Council, the following business was
transacted.
1. The meeting was called to order by Mayor
Calhoun.
2. Invocation was given by Kris Cornutt.
3. Mayor Calhoun led the pledge of allegiance to
the flag.
4. Mayor Calhoun presented the minutes of
November 28, 2005 for review, and asked if there were any corrections,
additions, or deletions. There being
none, Bryan Stone moved and Lloyd Matthews seconded the motion to approve the
minutes as presented.
5. Mayor Calhoun introduced Mac Butler. Mr. Butler stated he had a check for $2,150.00
to give to Detective Greg Carroll and Chief Ragan, to be used in the Detective
Department to purchase cameras. The

6. Mayor Calhoun presented the following
departmental reports:
Building, Library, Court, Fire &
Rescue and Police & Animal Control
7. Mayor Calhoun presented the following
travel\tuition:
Allan Ragan,
Police Chief and Captain Jeff Harwood to attend the Alabama Association of
Chiefs of Police February Conference in
8. Mayor Calhoun presented a request from the
Etowah County Community Service Program for $3725.57 to help their agency to
provide programs, activities and services to move low-income families toward
self-sufficiency. Discussion
followed. Bryan Stone moved and Kris
Cornutt seconded the motion to give $1000.00 to this program. Mayor Calhoun declared the motion carried.
9. Mayor Calhoun thanked all the employees who
helped make the Christmas Tree Lighting such a great success.
10. Bobby McCartney thanked all the employees who
helped with the Christmas Tree Lighting.
He also thanked the Lions Club for their help.
11. Jeff Overstreet thanked the police and fire
department for all they do, and Mac Butler and the others for the money they
donated for the cameras to use in investigations.
12. Bryan Stone thanked all the employees and
staff for the work done in the past year, and wished everyone a merry Christmas
and happy New Year.
13. Kris Cornutt said he echoed what the others
said. He also stated that trash pickup
would continue the rest of this month, and the trash would be hauled to
14. Lloyd Matthews thanked Mack Butler for raising the
money for the cameras for the Detective Department. He also stated that the paving could not be
done until the weather warms up. He
wished everyone a merry Christmas.
15. Mayor Calhoun announced that there will not
be a council meeting, December 26, 2005.
The next council meeting will be January 9, 2006. He also thanked all the department heads for
doing a great job, and making his job easier.
There
being no further business to come before the council at this time, Bryan Stone
made a motion to adjourn.
